What They Do
ALM is a mobile food pantry delivering groceries directly to client homes. They mainly purchase discounted goods from The Food Depot in Santa Fe, a Feeding America Organization, but also purchase from local markets and farms in Angel Fire, Eagle Nest and Cimarron, NM.
They are an all-volunteer organization dependent on community involvement to implement our mission. Volunteers unpack food delivery trucks into our stock room, manage inventory, order food, sack groceries every Sunday and make deliveries every Monday.
During the holiday season, ALM does special deliveries to their clients for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Who They Serve
ALM alternates deliveries on two routes every Monday. One route includes all communities in the Moreno Valley and the second includes the Ute Park and Cimarron communities. They deliver groceries to clients who meet the federal eligibility requirements of The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
ALM also provides individually packaged weekend snacks for the Eagle Nest Elementary and Middle School Food 4 Kids (F4K) program, providing nutritious foods over the three-day weekend. The teachers and staff identify these students in need, without disclosing to ALM who they are for identity protection.
ALM implements a diaper program that is 100% provided by The Food Depot in Santa Fe at no cost to ALM. There are no eligibility requirements. Diapers may be picked up at Shuter Library in Angel Fire. ALM received 222 diaper/wipes bundles for local families with babies over the last twelve months --- an average of 16 per month.
